The Adventures of Barry Briggs
WEMBLEY AND BEYOND

After a successful first year on the bookshelves, Briggo is taking his life adventures “Wembley and Beyond” book to a wider market as he crosses the globe to New Zealand later this month.
Heading to the land of his birth will be the latest chapter in the former World Champion’s colourful life after 76 years of adventure, endeavour, success, failures and tragedy.
And now residents down-under can “read all about it”, as he reveals everything in a deeply personal account of the ups and downs of life after speedway, as well as the exhilarating account of his rise to four World Championship titles.
Always fearless on track and renowned as one of speedway’s all time greats, his story doesn’t end when he hung up his leathers and steel shoe. The book takes us on a journey of much more depth, including diamond mining in Liberia, facing the barrel of an AK-47 rifle, losing $43 million in 24 hours, teaching Steve McQueen to slide a speedway bike, plus the agonies of a son facing paralysis and a wife dying of cancer.
One of the delights for readers is the raw language of the “kiwi” in him, and that is what jumps off the pages to make this “a book like no other, from a person like no other”.
Briggo will arrive in Auckland on February 25th as he heads for a whistle stop tour to take in all of the major cities and of course his hometown of Christchurch. He will also take the opportunity to visit old friends and savour the country of his birth.
“I seem to have outlived a lot of my older fans” jokes the spirited Briggo “But I have already had a great deal of interest about my trip and I am really looking forward to meeting some of the new generation of speedway fans who may not have seen me before, but might have heard all about Briggo from their mums and dads”.
Fresh from recovery following his UK wide charity ride which raised a cool £70,000 for crippled track colleagues, Briggo has been taking it easy at home in California.
In typical Briggo spirit, he may even do a little fundraising whilst on tour. “I might just get a bike out again and do a couple of rides if I feel I could benefit people that are less fortunate than us, says Barry, whose appetite for motorcycling has just simply never diminished.

Copies of the Book can be ordered via this website at a cost of $54.95 (including p&p) or by sending cheques (payable to Briggo Book) to Briggo Book, 69b Karina Road, New Plymouth 4312, New Zealand.
